That Mom Who Bakes:
The MommyCakes Story

MommyCakes started in 2019 in my very own kitchen when I began to play around with different baking and decorating techniques for my son's 2nd birthday cake. This was nothing new, as baking was always a happy escape for me for as far back as I can remember. I can vividly recall sifting through my mom's magazines for recipes and trying my hand at them. I even began to add recipes to my mom's recipe book, and would always rope her into trying them with me!

While I never imagined it would turn into a business, soon friends and family began requesting my cakes for their own occasions. Word of mouth then spread to social media platforms, and before I knew it, my calendar was booked up every weekend. In the meantime, I continued to pursue my education, with an undergrad in Special Education from WilmU, and a Masters Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Saint Joseph's University. However, the more orders I accepted, the more I fell in love with the idea of turning my dream of owning a bakery into a reality. Despite my other interests, one thing has always remained consistent: my love and passion for baking.
In 2020, I hung up my apron while trying to navigate a "new norm" thanks to Covid while being pregnant with my daughter, but the loss of my mom in January of 2021 made me realize that life is too short to not chase your dreams. So, here I am, making my dream of becoming a bakery owner come to fruition, and it's all thanks to people like you! To past, present, and future customers, I thank you so much for your business & support!
